3 weeks today - June 14, 2011

Kennedy and Corbin are Three Weeks Old

Kennedy and Corbin are three weeks today. My have they grown. I think they are going through a growth spurt because they are wanting to eat every 2 hours. I am doing alot of learning about each one. Kennedy is miss drama queen. She doesn't like to be wet or dirty...even alittle bit. I am learning with Corbin that I need a shield around the diaper changing area...when the diaper comes off...the fountain begins. Thank goodness all of the extra diapers are in a box and that guards them from getting wet. He also gets a bath every other day because when he wakes up wet that means someone didn't put the diaper on correctly...we all have been guilty of this.

My team consists of my mom who stays with us Sunday night through Friday. Then Friday night through Sunday afternoon Phillip's parents come over to help out. Last Sunday was alittle rough when it was just Phillip and I after his parents went home. Rebekka accidently spilled a glass of soda that was sitting on an end table so we began cleaning that up..then both babies started crying and we had friends coming over in the next 10 minutes to bring us dinner. We got the babies settled (I held one and the other was in the swing) and then Phillip and Rebekka were helping clean up. After dinner was delivered (yummy Lasagna) Phillip and I took shifts eating. I am soooo grateful for the parents that help out. At night Phillip gets up for the midnight feeding and I do the other 2 feedings with the help of my mom or Phillip's mom who feeds the other baby. I think we would pull our hair out if we didn't have the help that we do.

The babies are trying to pick their heads up even more. They are growing and getting stronger day by day. We think that Kennedy is gaining about an ounce a day and Corbin is gaining about 1/2 an ounce a day. They are now on a 3 hour feeding schedule day and night. We try to stretch it to 4 hours at night but Corbin wants his milk every 3 hours.

They are becoming alittle more gasey and it sounds like Kennedy has mini explosions in her diaper...but when you change it sometimes there's alot and sometimes there's only alittle bit. Kennedy drinks super fast while Corbin takes his sweet time. We have learned that Kennedy does not like her diaper to be wet or dirty or she will throw a fit like it's the end of the world. Corbin is laid back and whenever you get to change him he's fine with it. Corbin has had more baths than his sister because of being wet when he wakes up. I'll just say we are still learning about how little boy's and diapers work.

On Tuesday, June 7th the babies cords fell off.

On Wednesday, June 8th I got the portraits in the mail that the babies took at the hospital. They turned out sooo good. I did have to call them because the birth announcements were incorrect. They had Corbin's information under his sister's name and vise versa. They said they will put a rush on getting that done for me.

On Friday, June 10th we did family pictures. I set up the area and my mom took the pictures. She did a good job. Rebekka was cranky so we didn't get good smiles. She soooo didn't want to wear a dress, she wanted to wear pants and a shirt but that is not what I bought her to wear.

Sunday, June 12 -- Corbin was on the couch and was positioned on his back. He rolled to his side. I didn't see it happen buy Nonna did. We will see if he does it again. Kennedy and Corbin are both lifting up their head's so well. On June 15th is there actual due date. That is when we can compare them with newborn babies and when they do things such as roll over. Kennedy is now 5 pounds 12 ounces. We gave her a bath this morning and she loves bath time. After that I just held her and we "talked" together. Ok...I talked, she listened. I think she can see my face now.

2 weeks old - June 7, 2011

I can't believe that my babies are 2 weeks old (38 weeks). Today I went to Dr. Strong's office and took the babies with me so I can get a picture with Dr. Strong. My appointment went well. He said that I am healing very nicely. After that we took the twins to the hospital to visit Nurse Karla and toget a weight check. Karla was happy to see the babies and us. Kennedy now weighs 5 pounds and 2.5 ounces. Corbin now weighs 4 pounds and 13.4 ounces. They are both gaining weight. Yeah!

June 1 - June 6

June 6, 2011 - Monday

Today was Phillip's first day back to work. He text 5 times and called once. He is such a proud daddy. He also took his brag book to work to show off the children. Sally brought us yummy dinner tonight.

June 5, 2011-Sunday

Phillip and Corbin watched NASCAR today! Like father like son!

June 4, 2010 - Saturday

All the grandkids.

June 3, 2011 - Friday

June 2, 2011 - Thursday

June 1, 2011 - Wednesday

We are having a great time with the babies. Routines are being established. We are feeding every 2 hours during the days and every 3 hours at night. Our feeding times are 12 am, 3 am, 6 am, 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm, 7pm & 9pm. I pump every thirty minutes prior to feeding times. At night I pump more so we have "reserve" in the fridge when the babies get extra hungry during daytime feeding times. Kennedy & Corbin are currently eating 40 ml. Sometimes Kennedy is more hungry and eats another 30 ml. (30 ml = 1 oz). Phillip gets up at the midnight feeding and I am up with the 3 am feeding. Both babies are having really good wet and dirty diapers. In the evenings after 5 or 7pm feeding is there tummy time. This is when they are awake for a more extend time.

I am getting stronger and stronger day by day. I am doing alittle more house related things each day. Washing bottles & doing a little laundry. My mom is here to help us as well. She comes Sunday evening and leaves Friday afternoon/evening. She helps with nighttime feedings and during the day. I don't know how mom's of twins do it totally by themselves.

Rebekka loves to hold her brother and sister's hands. She gets burp clothes and whatever I might need when it is feeding time. She likes to watch them when they are in their swings as well during the daytime. She is an awesome big sister and has lots of love to give to them.
